Herbert Lucas was born on July 24, 1926. After serving in the United States Navy, he attended Princeton University for his B.A. in History, and Harvard University for his M.B.A.
In 1957, Mr. Lucas began at Fry Consultants in Chicago, Illinois and by 1961 he was living in Frankfurt, West Germany where he was responsible for the firm’s management consulting business in Europe as Vice President. Two years later, he joined Carnation International as Vice President and remained in West Germany for two more years before moving to Carnation headquarters in Los Angeles. From 1972-1982, Mr. Lucas was President of Carnation International and a member of the Board of Directors.
Mr. Lucas has served as a board member of several corporations including Wellington Trust Company of Boston, Electronic Clearing House (ECHO), SCOLR Pharma, Inc., Arctic Alaska Fisheries, and Sunworld International Airways. He has also served as a board member or trustee of many non-profit institutions in the fields of education, the arts and humanities and third world economic development including: Princeton University; J. Paul Getty Trust; The Morgan Library; National Humanities Center; The Los Angeles County Museum of Art; The Music Center of Los Angeles; The American School of Classical Studies at Athens; American Friends of the British Museum; Winrock International; and the National Association of Independent Schools, to name a few. Mr. Lucas currently heads his family investment business. He is married to Ann Stuart Lucas. They have four children and nine grandchildren.
