As Director of New Roads for New Visions, Fernando Montes-Rodriguez oversees an enhanced educational and re-entry transition program serving incarcerated youth at Probation Camp David Gonzales. Mr. Montes-Rodriguez joined the New Roads Camp Community Partners Program in 2003 as a placement coordinator with responsibilities for developing and implementing comprehensive services for probation youth.
Before joining New Roads for New Visions, Mr. Montes-Rodriquez worked with community organizations to improve the social and economic conditions of marginalized communities. He is the former membership director of Community Coalition, a community based organization in South Los Angeles. Under his leadership Community Coalition grew its membership to over 4,000 residents, including youth. He also worked with hundreds of residents to implement nationally recognized crime prevention strategies, including the closure of businesses that fostered crime in South Los Angeles.
Mr. Montes-Rodriguez holds a B.A. in Sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles. Additionally, he is pursuing an M.B.A. in non-profit management from the American Jewish University.
