Neil Kaplan is the Founder of Kaplan Media. He works with startups as an investor and advisor. He currently works with numerous clients and serves on the advisory board of SOSOnlinebackup and Wallstreetweek.com. Neil is also non-executive President and board member of Tribe Media, publisher of the Jewish Journal and the nation’s highest traffic ethnic news web site.
Kaplan has extensive experience in brand building in both b2c and b2b channels and has been instrumental in the successful launch, acquisition and integration of numerous online businesses.
From 2007-2010, Neil was Senior Vice President of Business Development for Vantage Media in El Segundo, CA. Neil was responsible for strategy, operations, pricing and yield management activities to the consumer and the trade. Vantage Media is one of the largest, fastest growing and most effective performance-based search marketers.
From 1999-2006, Kaplan was Senior Vice President of Strategic Development for Internet Brands- a leading operator of media and e-commerce sites for “large ticket” consumer purchases such as cars, real estate, mortgages and travel. Kaplan joined CarsDirect.com from Universal Studios Hollywood where he was Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Development for one of the largest entertainment destinations in the world.
Prior to Universal, Kaplan was Director of Sales, Marketing and Strategic Planning for the Los Angeles Times. Previously, Kaplan was a consultant with Bain & Company based in Boston and Toronto. Kaplan received his MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University where he was an F.C. Austin Scholar and a B.S.in Economics with honors from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Neil lives in Torrance, California with his wife and four children.
