Rui received her M.S. in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from California Lutheran University. Rui worked at a non-profit counseling center in San Fernando Valley servicing children, adolescents, families who are going through or have a history of sexual and interpersonal violence. With her certificate in Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, Rui has been providing crisis intervention and counseling in the home and community to the survivors. She also had the opportunity to work with teens on probation and their families where she addressed issues such as substance abuse, physical abuse and conduct disorders as well as demonstrated parenting skills to the parents.
Rui has an expertise in advocacy and case management for individuals and families who have or had involved with Department of Child and Family Services. Rui has dedicated herself to the elimination of sexual and interpersonal violence through healing, empowerment and increased public awareness of prevention strategies.
As a program counselor, Rui will provide support and guidance to foster youth while coordinating resource referrals and connecting youth to services through effective case management.
